Over the weekend, the Life Rolls On Foundation hosted their “They Will SKATE Again” event at the Venice Skatepark in Venice, California. Among other events in the morning was a skateboard demonstration by some truly talented skaters from around the region. I met Michael (below) right after I arrived. He seemed pumped to get the day going!

There were hints of what was in store for the afternoon when some young adaptive athletes came by to scope out the bowls and receive some instruction. The afternoon event with them was so inspiring that it deserves, and will receive, its own blog post.

There was so much activity, often there would be two or three different things going on all at once, at least, that I could see. Honestly, there could have been more! Alex and his brother began a cat and mouse chase in the bowl adjacent to where the kids were receiving instruction.

There were tricks going off in all directions, including one from Alex that landed right next to me. I was surprised. Alex was very pleased! 😉

I was invited to the event by Greg Delger and Lance Bowling, co-founders of the EduSkate Foundation, which I am now working with as their new Director of Media Relations. This event was my introduction to a bit more of the skating community … and I had a blast … thanks guys! 🙂
