Dia De Los Muertos LA: Main Stage Performances (Part 3)

This year’s Dia De Los Muertos: Shamanic Visions of the Huicol festival at Hollywood Forever was a 12-hour cultural celebration in honor of those who have passed.

After the Sunset Shaman Ceremony featured in our Part 1 blog, then wandering through the Altars and Atmosphere in Part 2, one arrived at the main stage, one of three set up on the vast grounds of Hollywood Forever.

Huichol Musical began the evening with a lively set.

Next, Maria Elena Cabezut, Cultural Attache, Consulate of Mexico took the mic to speak of the significance of the evening to the local community.

The visual extravaganza that is Grupo de Danza Nayare is something to behold!

Festival attendee Amber Allison was selected from among the thousands of costumed guests and awarded the “Best Costume” of the event.

The next performance was steeped in ancient ritual traditions, introduced by flutes and incense.

Dressed in traditional Aztec garb, the dancers performed ancient rites in honor of the dead.

Honoring great warriors of the past.
