Digging through the Roth Stock archives over the Holidays, I recently stumbled across these photos from the first independent movie I worked on in 2001 (released in 2002). Having begun my Hollywood career shooting production stills for HBO and Pay-Per-View, it was exciting to land my first independent film gig on the set of “The Stoneman”.
Produced and directed by Hollywood B-movie legend Ewing “Lucky” Brown, this campy horror movie was a fun introduction to the world of filmmaking.

The sci-fi / horor / murder mystery film starred Pat Morita (The Karate Kid), Christopher Atkins (The Blue Lagoon) and Robin Riker (Brothers).

Working with Pat Morita was a lot of fun. Pat was a gentle, friendly person who was always good for a laugh. The photo below was in a hotel parking area in Bakersfield, California, shot through the window as he was sitting in the back seat of a car.

Ron Masak (Murder She Wrote) played the cop who was hunting The Stoneman.

Steve Henneberry was The Stoneman, a murderous beast from the Stone Age who had been found frozen, then reanimated in Robin Riker’s lab. Yes, the makeup was that bad! 😀

The film included additional stars from television Bernie Koppel (The Love Boat), Dennis Haskins (Saved By The Bell) and Larry Manetti (Magnum PI).
