18th Annual Governor’s Black-Tie Invitational Grand Bash

As an assignment photographer for LV Photo, many of the assignments are for extremely worthy causes. The 18th Annual Governors’s Black-Tie Invitational Grand Bash showed just how deeply the Las Vegas community cares for its citizens.

Endorsed by Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, the evening is focused on honoring the community’s most deserving, and dedicated to raising money for for those most in need.

The evening honored Sheriff Joe Lombardo for his years of dedicated service to the community by naming him Philanthropist Of The Year for his tireless efforts after the horrible mass-shooting on October 1 last year.

Honors went out for many of the heroic First Responders from that terrible night as well. There was a lot of emotion in the room.

The event is organized by the Southern Highlands Charitable Foundation, established in 2001 by the Olympia Companies, and raises funds for numerous charities in the Las Vegas Valley.

This evening’s auction raised more than $1,000,000 for charities with the charm and personality of auctioneer Christian Kolberg from Kolberg Auctions.

Situated on 90 acres, the venue for the evening was the boutique hotel M Resort Spa Casino in Henderson, Nevada.

Executive chefs from many notable restaurants dished out a sumptuous strolling dinner from numerous stations across the resort’s poolside terraces.

Dinner entertainment was provided by The Parametrics, who are, from their Facebook page, “An eclectic band of musicians from Las Vegas, NV. A boutique band of misfits, a true band of brothers.”

Where guests were greeted by Popcorn Girl Las Vegas as they headed for the entrance. I personally sampled the caramel popcorn. It was yummy! 😉

The fashion theme for the evening was “Cowboy Chic” and I think these two gentlemen from Detroit nailed it. Both said it was their first time in cowboy garb!

After the auction concluded, there was a special concert by Country Music star Keith Urban and his band, but that’s for another blog! 😀
