This Course is for Novice to Advanced Photoshop Users and Novice to Intermediate Lightroom Users
A professional photographer with photos published worldwide and former instructor at UCLA Extension, I enjoy assisting others improve their skills and confidence using their cameras and editing in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
I offer personal Adobe Photoshop (version 5.0 or later) and/or Lightroom (CC2015) training in one-on-one lessons in your home or office anywhere within the traditional Thirty Mile Zone (TMZ = within 30 Miles of Beverly Blvd. and La Cienega in Los Angeles, California) including; Hollywood, the West Side of Los Angeles, South Bay, Burbank, and the San Fernando Valley.
The featured photos you see on this page were captured in natural light, the colors and lighting you see are real. Yet the images have been enhanced in Lightroom for maximum effect. No filters have been applied! The photos are linked to their event galleries so you may see more from each shoot.
Visit my Photo Blog for many, many more examples of the results you can achieve using curves and levels adjustments in Adobe Camera RAW with Photoshop, or now Lightroom for a nearly all-inclusive layer-free workflow that is much faster and more intuitive. You will also learn the tools available in each application and receive an introduction to filters, plugins and presents for added oomph in your photos!
As an active press photographer, I have also become proficient with captioning, keywording, copyrights, model/property releases, and preparing images for online use, mobile applications, print publication, broadcast and feature films.
These lessons are designed to focus on how best to use each application. To learn how to use the two together, see our Advanced Digital Workflow for Professional Photographers (coming soon).
Hourly, half-day and full-day lessons are available:
- Rates begin at $65/ hour with a 2 hour minimum.
- Half-Day (4 hours) = $225
- Full Day (8 hours) = $400 … may be split into 2 sessions
- I’m very happy to work outside the TMZ and am happy to propose a custom bid for locations worldwide
The 8 hours in 2 sessions has been by far the most popular choice. It allows the student to practice what they learn in session 1 and ask more detailed questions in session 2, most often, about a week later. I have also found this to be much less of an inundation for students, and retention is better.
I also offer personalized photography instruction in How To Use a Digital SLR on-location throughout the area. All sessions are customized to meet your needs.
